Maryland is moving toward legalization of sports betting.
The state of Maryland is moving toward legalization of sports betting and took a big leap forward in February 2021.
The House heard HB940 from Speaker Adrienne Jones, which proposed legal sports betting in Maryland’s six bricks and mortar casinos, plus online sports betting from up to 20 operators.
This has followed hot on the heels of the ballot referendum in November 2020, in which Marylanders voted overwhelmingly for legal sports betting. It is now thought that it will be less than a year before the state allows both retail betting and online betting on all sports.
